EC-Council was founded by Jay Bavisi after the 9/11 attacks, driven by the concern of a potential cyber battlefield attack. At the time, the cybersecurity community lacked the necessary tools to prevent such threats. Incorporated as the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants, EC-Council aimed to develop information security training and certification programs. It quickly gained global support, launching its first major program, the Certified Ethical Hacker. Since then, EC-Council has continued expanding its certifications and training in cybersecurity and e-commerce security.

Certified Penetration Testing Professional (C|PENT AI) is an advanced EC-Council penetration testing certification designed to develop versatile, tactical, and job-ready offensive security professionals.
The program provides a complete hands-on penetration testing methodology, covering the entire penetration testing lifecycle from planning, scoping, rules of engagement, reconnaissance, attack-surface mapping, and exploitation through post-testing actions and professional report writing.
C|PENT AI combines advanced penetration testing techniques with AI-assisted security testing. Learners gain practical experience across enterprise environments involving Active Directory, Windows and Linux systems, web applications, APIs, IoT, binary exploitation, network segmentation, privilege escalation, lateral movement, pivoting, defense evasion, and exploit development.
AI tools and techniques are mapped across the penetration testing phases to help learners automate repetitive tasks, perform advanced vulnerability analysis, improve reconnaissance, generate scripts and commands, conduct AI-assisted social engineering, automate fuzzing, and enhance offensive-security operations.
The program includes extensive hands-on labs, live cyber ranges, multidisciplinary practice environments, CTF challenges, and a 100% practical certification examination.
