CICRA Facilitates School Students in Kandy with Cyber Security Awareness Sessions
Leading information security training, certification and consultancy organization CICRA Campus, a subsidiary under CICRA Holdings, recently conducted cyber security awareness sessions among school children in the Kandy district.
With the aim to raise awareness among the youth on topics such as cyber-attacks, cyber bullying, advocating mobile device and social network security and the prevention of such cyber threats, CICRA Campus went ahead with this highly resourceful corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to facilitate over 1,200 students, with 50 teachers, principals and heads of departments alike.
The sessions were held on February 27 and 28, 2020, with large numbers of students eager to understand the latest on ICT security development and precautions against cyber threats. The schools included Trinity College Kandy, Hillwood College, Viharamahadevi College and Gateway College.
The resource person at the event was CICRA Holdings Group Director and CEO Boshan Dayaratne, a veteran in the field of ICT development and security. Addressing the audience with the intention of not only imparting this knowledge among students, but also among teachers and parents, Dayaratne’s delivery was highly appreciated by the entire audience.
Students were highly enthusiastic with the areas that were addressed, and were also driven to be more engaged thanks to a ‘student pocket guide’ handed to every student at the session, which included tips to prevent cyber threats and a summary of the entire presentation at the session.
After witnessing the success of the awareness sessions and the overabundance of positive feedback from the participants, CICRA Campus now aims to expand its footprint in spreading knowledge through awareness sessions of this nature among more schools across the island. CICRA Campus also reiterated its commitment to take these awareness sessions to teachers and parents, with the aim to spread knowledge among all demographics.
